HDRP in Unity
Having built a level in URP (Universal Render Pipeline), I moved the base level into HDRP (High Definition Render Pipeline). HRDP is URP’s bigger brother; it is better at almost everything, but it comes at a performance cost. HRDP is primarily used for high fidelity visuals and photorealism. This may extend beyond videogames and into other Unity applications as well.
HDRP has many of its options locked in by default. However, there are still a multitude of options and settings to be manipulated to achieve lighting and atmospheric values in line with your design.
In the coming days, I’ll get into the technical details of how to use many of these features, as well as comparing the final visual project in URP to the new one in HDRP!
